This is the first time I have read this genre of book and I was pleasantly surprised. The author set the scene very well early on so you knew exactly what the set up was in the beginning. There was no overly flowery descriptions to pad the book out. I liked how the story switched points of view between Celeste and Trelian as this gave me a good understanding of what each character was thinking. The whole story, although in essence a classic fairytale style, had it's unique elements and flowedI received this book from Lovers of Paranormal in exchange for an honest review. I generally liked this but it was a difficult read for me. I didn't like the multiple perspectives which made it difficult to really get into the story. For me, that made it difficult to continue on. I did like the writing however. I can tell the author is talented and a good story weaver aside from that singular hiccup. I liked the actual plot of the story but felt that moments of it fell flat. The best parts were
For her first major assignment as the Priestess of Purity, Celeste is to go to the Island of Terelia and kill the Demon Torpaz, before he can take over other lands. She also is sent there to find Trelian the son of Mother Priestess Arien & Vladd the Dreamer who was kidnapped as a baby, and cure him of the witches curse and bring him home to the Isle of Life & the Temple of Dreams. This book switches back and forth between being told from Celeste & Trelians points of view. The author
As I read this story, I kept thinking of the Neverending Story. The description of Celeste and the way she speaks reminded me of the Empress Child, maybe just a little older. The descriptions were usually vivid, although I didnt feel too much of a connection to the characters. It would have been nice to delve into Celeste and Trelian's feelings a little more. Maybe that will happen in the second book. Most of the time, it felt like you were right there with the characters. The story seemed
I enjoyed this book quite a lot and wished for it to be a bit longer than it actually was as I didn't want it to end. I really enjoyed the plot and storyline and the book as well as the characters, although an intro to them would have been good.Trelian, is very important, so when he was taken by a stranger, from his parent, it sent people into a panic. After having no luck of finding him, his parents have nearly given up all hope. 18 years later, Celeste, a priestess in the city, is sent to find
I grew up in a small town, where everyone knows everyone's business. I was the child who spent more time daydreaming up stories than I did anything else. I write to fight depression. Life sucks sometimes. My writing truly helps to get me through that. I also write for my children. They are young still, and I want books to have the same impact on them as they've had on me. Reading is such an
It's been a while since I've read high fantasy (I've been firmly entrenched in urban fantasy and paranormal for a while now), so it took me a little while to get into this book, but once I got used to the different world and all it entails, I really enjoyed it. Paradise's world-building is a little clumsy at times - we get a sudden dump of information now and again that doesn't quite flow with the story, but I get that it's hard to build a new world, and I think subsequent books in the series
