I haven't read a book about Greek mythology before, so when I read the synopsis of Godhead, I was really excited. This book did not disappoint. I was sucked into the story from the very beginning with the huge battle with Aphrodite. My brother is a huge fan of Greek mythology--it's the only thing he will read about. I can't wait to recommend Godhead to him. Well done!
Enjoyed it a lot, much darker than I imagined. Shades of Dan Simmons' "Ilium", without his questionable genre-straddling spaceships-from-Saturn & Shakespearian references. Also snatches of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" in dealing with the whole panoply of gods & titans, but maintains its own identity.

This book really grabbed me and, as a debut novel, it impressed me. To start with I found Megan slightly irritating with her lack of 'get up and go' but I warmed to her in the end. Karl comes across as a rather befuddled bloke who doesn't know what day of the week it is but I still liked him for it. Made a change from the usual male hero. The story itself is a fabulous tale involving gods most of us are familiar with (who knew Aphrodite was such a vixen? Ah...) and their descendants. Megan and
3.5 stars! When I first started this novel I wasnt sure it was going to be for me, whilst I do love a good fantasy novel Im a bit picky! The news on this one is its GOOD.Aphrodite has betrayed the Gods and in a last ditch attempt to save them Hera expels the remaining Gods to the mortal world . After some time has passed Aphrodite is on a mission to kill all the descendants and give her the power to return to Olympus and release the demons trapped there upon the world at large. The only thing
Weak 2.0 DNF 40%With a very interesting and strong start, the book quickly fizzled into vapid cliché and annoyance.I love mythology and anything involving it always catches my eye. This was on my to-read list for a while, and, while browsing, I decided to start it.The start is pretty strong, not like one of those books that starts in the middle of nowhere and builds everything from zero without a goal to look forward to. Unfortunately, after that it becomes extremely weak: bland, clichéd
So, I love old Greek mythology. I'm a sucker for the classics and mysticism of the Ancients. When I read the synopsis for Godhead, I had to read it and was not disappointed. A new and fresh twist on old mythology is always a good thing and Mooney has proven himself worthy in my eyes. An enthralling world full of lies, truths, myths, legends, old new, past and the present that any Greek Mythology buff would want to sink their teeth into. I loved how Mooney gave us a peek into the "souls" of each
