Decent story but too longIllustrations aren't bad, but muted watercolorsvocabulary was challenging at timesI liked the varied color scheme, especially with text the tale is happy, and you should be too ... warm ending :)This is a rhyming fairy tale about a troll who dreams of becoming a princess. She has an opportunity to leave her own life for a time and join a group of princesses, but discovers that they are mean to her and that she doesn't belong. The tale moralizes about accepting yourself for who you are and embracing the things that make you special. It's an important lesson, although for young girls who might not be one of the princesses, I'm not sure that they want to be told that they are trolls.
Oh gag. You're either a mean blond girl who lives up in the light, or a dark tomboy troll trapped down below, nothing else? Also the rhyme is not only forced, but sometimes it breaks.
This is one of my favorite easy books to recommend. It tackles issues of bullying, self acceptance, remorse, doing the right thing and being happy with who you are. I like the prose, as it is fun to read aloud and I especially love the artwork depicting the story.I have highly recommended this book since 2010!
