Damascus Road (The Corescu Chronicles #2)
How far would you go to protect the innocent?
Giving up your life to save a stranger is one thing, but subject yourself to constant torture in an effort to save some people you've never met? This is the kind of man you'll find in Tony Agricola; survivor of Book One: The Judging.
Tony will sacrifice his very blood so the town can sleep safe at night. Would you?
Book Jacket Copy: Tony Agricola is on a mission: pursue and attempt to redeem the newly-turned and ravenous vampire, Paul Black. But how do you subdue a creature a hundred times stronger than you or save one who is more than determined to remain as he is? With the help of new friend and part-time preacher, Big John Jenkins, Tony is able to convince Paul to concentrate his bloodlust on the two of them alone, leaving the rest of the population safe from his deadly kiss. But at what cost? Behaving is not one of Paul's strong points.
In danger at every turn of the vampire's whimsy, and dodging two indomitable police detectives on their trail, Tony valiantly drags Paul to Germany to confront his master, Doctor Mark Corescu, who fled humanity after the events of Book One. Before the dust settles, Hope Brannen, madly in love with the doctor, arrives and puts her fists in the fight. Vacillating between the desire to be good and the lust for blood, Mark, Paul, and Tony wrestle to the end, making the final result anybody's game.
When I pick up an Ellen C. Maze novel my family now knows what to expect no food, no TLC, no attention, no answering the phone. So there was an air of martyrdom about the old homestead when I opened Damascus Road and buried myself in it. I wanted to savor this absorbing story and ration myself to a few pages at a time but my flesh is weak and I had to keep on reading. Oh boy, Ellen never disappoints, does she? Ive lost count of her novels and short-stories that Ive read (including the Rabbit
3.5 stars. This the second book in The Judging trilogy. The story is primarily told from Tony Agricola's perspective, with a smattering of other characters along the way. Most of the characters, but especially Tony, are well created. Mark Corescu continues to be somewhat fickle and never well drawn out. The story itself is fresh and the religious perspective, though heavy handed and often times feeling forced, is a very different look at something that has become ubiquitous in today's libraries

Wow, Ellen has done it yet again. What a fantastic trip she just sent me on. I seem to fall in love with every new character Ellen brings in to her books. In this instalment Tony is on a mission to save Paul from his evil vampire ways. Tony is determined to keep him on a tight rein but Paul finds himself another preacher Big John Jenkins. Will two preachers be enough to placate him? I have loved every one of Ellen's books and short stories that I have picked up. I recommend her books to everyone.
Damascus Road, the second installment of the Corescu Chronicles by Ellen Maze brings the reader into the middle of the struggle that exists between the vampire world and God. "THE JUDGING" & "DAMASCUS ROAD" BY ELLEN C. MAZEMy intention with this dual review is not to give away one iota of detail about either book. What I do intend to do is praise the genius that is Ellen C. Maze's writing finesse. These books are the first I have ever read that put a quite successful Christian twist on an ages old horror theme. So maybe we have seen books with vampires in them that intend to do good by ridding the world of the evil of mankind. Ellen takes it to another level byWhen I pick up an Ellen C. Maze novel my family now knows what to expect no food, no TLC, no attention, no answering the phone.
