Its been awhile since Ive read this book, but I do remember how it made me laugh. Its a quick read, and a book set in the 70s. I also read North Dallas Forty by Peter Gent, a similar book, but a little more serious on social problems of the day.Funny and nails Texas football, warts and all.

I love Goodreads, but their description of the film version of this book as "timeless and hilarious" is WAY wrong. It may be timeless, only because it's possibly one of the worst films ever made. I noticed Dan Jenkins' name wasn't even in the beginning credits. Out of morbid curiosity I got the book. I was pleasantly surprised to find it NOTHING like the movie.
