Interpretation Toward Books La machine infernale

Criticize Of Books La machine infernale
A clever interpretation of the myth of Oedipus in the form of a play first produced on stage in 1934.I enjoyed Act two, the banter between the Sphinx and Oedipus, and loved Jocaste, the cougar queen who reminded me of an aging Madonna. It was a quick read full of wit and that French satire I love.

Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (5 July 1889 11 October 1963) was a French poet, novelist, dramatist, designer, boxing manager, playwright and filmmaker. Along with other Surrealists of his generation (Jean Anouilh and René Char for example) Cocteau grappled with the "algebra" of verbal codes old and new, mise en scène language and technologies of modernism to create a paradox: a classical

I really liked this twist on the Oedipus and Jocaste story/tragedy. It contained very interesting events such as the run in with Laos ghost and Oedipus's fight against the Sphinx's enigma, etc. This story really starts off as a sort of comedy before following its tragic end, which was not only interesting but well done.

It felt like a prequel to Antigone, a favourite of mine. Not as poignant or quotable as i thought it would be !
